“EVEREST CHALLENGE” ACHIEVED IN FAVOUR OF AECC VALENCIA

Spania GTA donated 1 euro for every metre that amateur cyclist Javier Oliver covered by bicycle, which came to 8,848 euros.
More than 230 km in 13 hours of non-stop pedalling is the challenge that this Valencian public notary has achieved after surmounting Mont Ventoux, a special high category of the Tour de France.

Climbing the height of Everest on a mountain bike with no rest in only 1 day to collect money for the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC Valencia); that is, 237.1 km of non-stop pedalling in 13:29 hours, the equivalent of climbing 8,848 m. This is the personal challenge met by amateur cyclist Javier Oliver when he climbed the amazing Mont Ventoux, the highest mountain in the French Provence, classified as a special pass of the Tour de France, known as “The Giant of Provence”.

A project of solidarity in which automobile company Spania GTA donated 1 euro to cancer research for each metre accumulated of vertical bike climbing, 8,848 euros in all, which today the CEO of this company, Domingo Ochoa, gave to the AECC Valencia President, Tomás Trenor.

The achievement of this AECC Valencia Everest Challenge (1 m = €1) has been undertaken by a Valencian public notary, whose hobby is cycling. While pedalling this challenge, Carmen González-Meneses, his wife, was with him in a support car, who is also a public notary.

According to Oliver, it has been “very hard and a blessed madness, but converting 8,848 m into euros to fight this illness has been well worth the effort. It motivated me to find the strength to top Mont Ventoux for the sixth time, and to be able to shout, Mission accomplished!“. The scene of this great feat, which has been officially approved, was the north face of Mont Ventoux, with many climbs and descents on the Malaucène slope. A frightful mountain pass that covers more than 21 km with a mean slope of 7.6%, and also grades of 10% and sections of 11% .

This courageous cyclist wants to repeat the challenge in 2016, and wishes to count on Spania GTA’s collaboration, which he has thanked for its solidarity efforts. This company, located in the town of Ribarroja del Turia (Valencia), is the exclusive manufacturer of GTA Spano supercar. This vehicle has a V10 Twin Turbo engine, with 1220 Nm torque and 925 hp. With a limited production of 99 vehicles, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of over 370 km/h.
